Dating back to his days at Penn State, Allen Robinson has succeeded in spite of lackluster quarterbacks (Matt McGloin, Christian Hackenburg, Chad Henne, Blake Bortles, Mitch Trubisky). Last year, he was top-10 in the league in receptions (98) and targets (154). He was also top-15 in yards (1,147).
Robinson is one of the most underrated wide receivers in the NFL, if the not the most underrated. He’s also headed into the final year of his contract, and has professed his desire to remain with the Chicago Bears.
During an appearance on ESPN 1000 in Chicago on Wednesday, Robinson said he has not heard anything from the Bears regarding a new deal (h/t to NFL.com).
They haven’t. We haven’t heard nothing,” “I think just as far as me and my agent, from a the conversations that we’ve had, we’re not necessarily anticipating hearing anything at this point. For us, we’re going into camp preparing ourselves to have a good year. If that comes up and they reach out to my agent, I’m sure they’ll have pretty good discussions and things like that, but again, that hasn’t happened yet. Maybe it will happen. I can’t predict the future, so I don’t know if that will happen at all. For myself, with this being my second time going into a contract year, I know how to mentally prepare myself and I know how to block all that out.”
Robinson will make $10.9 million in base salary this season. Presumed Bears starter Nick Foles might be the best quarterback he’s played with.
As he lines himself up for a pay day next March, here are five way-too-early landing spots for Allen Robinson in 2021 NFL free agency.
