NFL Free Agency: 5 way-too-early landing spots for Chris Godwin

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs could very well be in play here for Chis Godwin. Currently, their receiving core consists of Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins. What it boils down to for Andy Reid and his offense are threats. He built a nice receiving nucleus during his time with the Eagles and despite winning the Super Bowl last season, the Chiefs could use another top-flight receiver.

In 2019, the Chiefs relied mostly on the remarkable talent of Hill, who recorded 58 receptions for 856 yards in only 12 games. The next closest productive receiver was Sammy Watkins with 52 receptions for 673 yards. Adding a threat like Godwin would give the Chiefs one of, if not the best core in the NFL.

With Patrick Mahomes coming into his own, providing him with the necessary weapons to stay on top of his game is priority No. 1. It’s the same approach the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots have done with Drew Bress and Tom Brady throughout their careers.
