Philip Rivers
Predicted team in 2020: Indianapolis Colts
If it was any other team, it almost seems like Rivers would’ve gotten a better send-off than he did with the Chargers. Regardless of what your opinion of Rivers is as a quarterback, he gave 16 years to the Chargers and they respond by ridding of him like he meant nothing to the franchise.
With that being said, Rivers struggled mightily in 2019 with 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions as Los Angeles went 5-11. Some people thought Brady began to show his age in 2019, but Rivers definitely looked the part.
Nevertheless, Rivers isn’t considering retirement and will be playing for a team not named the Chargers in 2020. When free agency gets underway, the Indianapolis Colts are a team that makes perfect sense for the gunslinging veteran.
Besides giving the Colts a short-term option until they find their future quarterback, Rivers has experience with head coach Frank Reich and offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni. Prior to joining the Colts, both Reich and Sirianni spent time working with Rivers on the Chargers previously in their career.
Provided that, Rivers is familiar with the offense and gets the opportunity to play in a dome for at least eight games of the season. Maybe Reich can get a productive season or two from Rivers before he chooses to retire.
