Baltimore Ravens – Receiving Corps
The Ravens are the only AFC North team not to have a current or former Pro Bowl receiver. None of Baltimore’s receivers have even crossed the 1,000-yard mark during their careers. In comparison, the Bengals and Browns both have two receivers with multiple 1,000-yard seasons under their belts.
Recognizing their weakness, the Ravens invested heavily in the wide receiver position over the past two drafts. Last year, Baltimore took Marquise Brown in the first-round and Miles Boykin in the third. Recently, they drafted Devin Duvernay in the third-round and James Proche in the sixth.
However, none of Baltimore’s young receivers are future superstars. They haven’t shown the capacity to reach that level. Even veteran Willie Snead saw his receptions and receiving yards almost halved this past year.
Despite Lamar Jackson’s stellar performance, Brown was the only Baltimore receiver with more than 350 yards, and he only finished the season with 584. Pittsburgh’s Diontae Johnson, a rookie third-round pick, completely outshined Brown during the season.
Baltimore possesses the best rushing attack in the NFL, but the team needs more receiving threats. Eventually, the Ravens will hit a defensive front they can run against, and then they’re dead in the water. That’s why Baltimore desperately needs at least one top receiver.
