Minnesota Vikings – Cornerback Experience
Finally, the Vikings are going to be an intriguing team to keep an eye on this season. Minnesota lost a ton of talent in their secondary this offseason to free agency. Among the departures were Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, and Mackensie Alexander.
At this point in time, the Vikings are projected to start Mike Hughes and Jeff Gladney as their top two cornerbacks. Both guys have a ton of talent, but they are not very experienced.
Hughes will be heading into his third NFL season with 20 games under his best. Last season, he racked up 45 total tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception, and nine defended passes. Gladney, on the other hand, was selected with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Minnesota has to figure out how to slow down opposing passing attacks. There is reason to be concerned with their lack of experience at the cornerback position, but if their young players play to their full potential, everything will be just fine.
