Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles
A sneaky candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2019, Miles Sanders could make the Pro Bowl in his second season. Assuming the Penn State product avoids a sophomore slump, he’ll become one of the pillars in the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense.
As a rookie, Sanders saw limited action through the first half of the 2019 season. However, he eventually took over for Jordan Howard as the Eagles’ lead back and never lost the job. Expect Sanders to take on a full workload this coming season and compete with the East’s other top running backs.
Last year, Sanders appeared in all 16 of the Eagles’ regular season games, amassing 818 rushing yards and 509 receiving yards. In total, it took Sanders 229 touches to reach 1,327 yards from scrimmage. In comparison, Josh Jacobs needed 262 touches to reach 1,316 yards from scrimmage.
With Howard no longer with the Eagles, Sanders becomes the team’s feature back. There’s no one on the roster capable of stealing snaps from him. A dual-threat back, Sanders doesn’t produce the most outstanding rushing numbers. He’s not going to capture a rushing title anytime soon. However, he should finish near the top of the league in yards from scrimmage.
The Eagles enter 2020 looking for their third NFC East title in four seasons. If Philadelphia wants to stave off Dallas, Sanders must generate production somewhat comparable to Ezekiel Elliott’s.
Prediction for Sanders in 2020: 240 attempts, 1,100 yards, and eight touchdowns
Bonus: 65 receptions, 650 yards, and four touchdowns
