Los Angeles Rams: Cam Akers
Cam Akers was selected with the 52nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Rams. He spent three years at Florida State where he was the starting running back. Akers rushed for 1,000 yards twice. In 2019, Akers finished with 1,144 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is an NFL ready back and the Rams needed one in the worst way.
Los Angeles cut ties with Todd Gurley this offseason and he landed with the Atlanta Falcons. Akers is a good replacement for the former All-Pro. He is a bowling ball on the field at 5’10 with great strength. Akers will compete for carries with Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson, but he should get a majority of the carries.
Akers may not be much of a receiver out of the backfield but he is capable of carrying the load for an offense, especially around the goal line. He is also an option for the wildcat in Sean McVay chooses.
Akers will carry the ball 180 times as a rookie for 800 yards. He is a goal-line option that could land him eight touchdowns.
