San Francisco 49ers: Raheem Mostert
What a breakout season it was for Raheem Mostert in 2019, particularly in the second half of the season. Mostert was primarily a special teams player throughout his career but Kyle Shanahan gave him a shot and Mostert made the most of it. He finished with 859 yards and 13 touchdowns over the 49ers’ final nine games of the season, including the playoffs.
Mostert demanded a trade from the team in the offseason. San Francisco and Mostert quickly worked out a deal on a restructured contract. This was a bold demand for a player that entered 2019 with just 42 career carries but to each his own. Mostert will enter 2020 as the 49ers’ feature back. Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon will follow him on the depth chart.
Mostert is not a receiving threat out of the backfield. McKinnon or Coleman will most likely be used as third down backs or in long yardage situations. Mostert will get a bulk of the carries in Shanahan’s offense. He made it work throughout the postseason.
Mostert has a chance to rush for 750+ yards and seven touchdowns this season. If he stays healthy and is given most of the carries, he will be a worthy flex in fantasy football.
