4. New Orleans Saints
Notable members of the secondary: Marshon Lattimore, Janoris Jenkins, Marcus Williams, Malcolm Jenkins, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, D.J. Swearinger
Just two years ago, the New Orleans Saints had one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Fast forward to now and the Saints have one of the deepest secondary units in the league. First and foremost, New Orleans has done a remarkable job drafting, adding guys like Marshon Lattimore, Marcus Williams, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in recent years.
Since 2017, when Lattimore entered the league, the former Buckeye has allowed only five touchdowns on 1,870 coverage snaps, according to PFF.
On top of that, the Saints were able to reunite with Malcolm Jenkins and they re-signed veteran D.J. Swearinger this offseason. Meanwhile, Janoris Jenkins proved to be a valuable asset for New Orleans after the team claimed him off of waivers in 2019. There’s definitely an argument to be had that the Saints own the deepest secondary in the NFL in 2020.
