Miami Dolphins star Jalen Ramsey is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks due to a meniscus injury that will require surgery on his left knee, NFL Network insiders Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo reported.

Ramsey hurt his left knee on July 27 and had to be carted off the field. The cornerback will have his knee surgery on July 28.

Ramsey will likely have a full meniscus repair, which would put his return date all the way back to December, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported. The Dolphins acquired Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams.

This will mark Ramsey’s second meniscus surgery. He previously underwent a procedure on his right knee in 2016 as a rookie with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The six-time Pro Bowler has 19 career interceptions with the Jaguars and Rams. He helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals.

NFL NEWS & RUMORS: Jalen Ramsey & Miami Dolphins Updates

Ramsey took to Twitter after suffering his injury. The Florida State product tweeted, “I’ll be back on that field stronger than ever… in due time! This SO minor for God’s child! I trust fully & know He got me! Im forever grateful to worship His name! I know my brothers gone hold it down until I’m back tho!”

Ramsey also sent out a second tweet: “That end of the season push gon be legendary!”

The Dolphins went 9-8 last season. They lost the Wild Card game to the Buffalo Bills by a final score of 34-31.

NFL NEWS & RUMORS: Joe Burrow & Miami Dolphins Updates

If Ramsey were to miss time in the regular season — and it looks like he will — the Dolphins would be playing without one of their most significant offseason additions. Ramsey was expected to become half of a dynamic duo alongside Xavien Howard, with the aim of bolstering a secondary that also includes Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones.
