NFL Scout Reveals Who The Packers Should Target In NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers’ biggest question mark of the season was answered earlier this week when Aaron Rodgers announced that he will be back with the organization. With Rodgers back in the fold, the front office is going to go all-in on trying to win a Super Bowl.

The process already began, as Davante Adams was given the franchise tag. That should keep the all-world wide receiver in Green Bay at least one more season, but their depth behind him could be changed a lot this offseason.

The team’s No. 2 and 3 receivers the last few seasons, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard, are both free agents. Valdes-Scantling could be a popular target for teams as he is an excellent deep threat and players with similar skill sets to him have cashed in recently in free agency. Lazard is a restricted free agent, but since he was undrafted, he will not cost a team that signs him to an offer sheet any draft compensation.

The team invested a third-round pick in Amari Rodgers last season and veteran Randall Cobb is still in the fold. However, one NFL scout believes the Packers will look to add more talent to the wide receiver group with their first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

“The Packers need to focus on bringing in some talent at wide receiver. If everything fell their way, they would walk out of the first round with Chris Olave. He’s the perfect fit for Green Bay in this draft class.”

If Chris Olave is still on the board when the Packers come on the clock with the No. 28 overall pick, they should run the card up as fast as possible. Finding a consistent second option behind Adams has been a struggle at times, but Olave would fill that void.

A track star in high school, Olave is a burner that can get beyond the defense with ease. But, his game is more than just speed, as he is a smooth route runner as well. He would have no problem acclimating himself to a complementary role, as he spent his time at Ohio State splitting targets with other explosive receivers.

Olave finished the 2021 season with 65 receptions for 936 yards and 13 touchdowns. All three numbers were career-highs despite being the third option behind fellow first-round hopeful Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
