Which Russell Wilson Shows Up In 2020?

Russell Wilson was having an exceptional 2019 season before tailing off the back half of the season. In the final seven games of the season, Wilson threw for nine touchdowns, but also had four interceptions. He also failed to throw for over 250 yards in every game except one, with the Seahawks going 4-3 in that span.

The Seahawks should be once again one of the top teams in the NFC, but it’s nearing a make-or-break point for this team. They have failed to get past the divisional round in the playoffs since losing in the Super Bowl in 2014. Wilson has the tools necessary to get this team over the hump, but it’s about proving it.

Looking at Wilson’s options at receiver, Tyler Lockett has developed into a serious stud for the Seahawks. D.K. Metcalf had a very impressive rookie year and will be looking to build off of it. The Seahawks went out and signed tight end Greg Olsen and although he is not what he once was, he will pair well with Will Dissly, who was enjoying a great 2019 season before tearing his Achilles.

In 2019, Wilson’s totals added up to 4,110 yards, 31 touchdowns and five interceptions, as well as rushing for 342 yards and three TDs. ESPN projects him to take a step back in 2020, throwing for only 3,656 yards, 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while rushing for 397 yards and two TDs.

If Wilson can come out and dominate for a full season like he flashed last year, he could be a serious MVP candidate. But if he falls back into being inconsistent like last season, it could be another early exit for Seattle.
