Nick Foles and the Bears could be an interesting pairing

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Foles would be the perfect quarterback to push Trubisky next season, and he would likely welcome playing a mentor role for the young quarterback. After he helped the Philadelphia Eagles win Super Bowl 52, he came back and openly allowed the team to move forward with Carson Wentz as their franchise guy.

Foles is realistic enough to realize what the situation in Chicago would be. Obviously, the organization wants to see Trubisky succeed and be the face of their franchise. Foles would simply be there to help with his development and be his backup.

Foles also has a history with head coach Matt Nagy, as the two were in Kansas City together back in 2016. Foles’ knowledge and track record of success in Nagy’s west coast system will only help Trubisky, as he can provide pointers for the young gun slinger.

Nagy should focus most of his time getting Trubisky ready for the season, and acquiring Foles will allow him to do that since Foles already has a solid understanding of the offense.

Chicago going after Foles feels like a realistic possibility if he gets cut from Jacksonville. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out when free agency kicks off in a few weeks.
