One player each team from the NFC East could trade before the 2020 season

Hat tip to CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin on this one from his NFL trade market piece earlier this week. He pondered the idea that the Eagles might look to trade Rasul Douglas to the New York Jets in exchange for linebacker Avery Williamson.

The Eagles do currently have options on its roster to address the middle linebacker position between T.J. Edwards and Davion Taylor but would benefit from having another option in Williamson.

As for the Jets, there is a need for more cornerback depth on their end and executing a deal of this nature would help to address it. While Douglas may be on the Eagles’ roster bubble, he could be another option to compete for a role with New York if given the opportunity to compete in training camp.

The deal certainly appears on paper to improve both teams without a whole lot of continuity or drop-off elsewhere.
