1. Low Risk, High Reward
The Packers currently have right under $14 million in available cap space and doesn’t have the funds to go sign a large contract. This is another reason why it makes sense for Gabriel to be a match to sign in Green Bay because he wouldn’t cost a ton of money.
In 2019, Gabriel only had a $6.5 million salary cap hit and can be signed at or around the same amount. It would be a low risk, high reward one or two-year deal that allows Green Bay to get more bang for their buck. Don’t be shocked to see Financial GM Russ Ball work his salary cap magic to allow this type of contract.
We all know as Packers fans the window has gotten smaller in Green Bay for another Super Bowl title while having Aaron Rodgers. This type of signing is the kind that can prolong a career and extend a window to win another title.
That being said, with the familiarity, the effect, and the cost all point to why Taylor Gabriel would be a perfect fit in Green Bay.
