Use the Run to Set Up the Pass
The Packers found a lot of success last season. A big reason why was because of their run game. One area where new Vikings defensive end Yannick Ngakoue struggled was against the run. It would be smart for the Packers to attack him in the run game.
With his limited time of the defense, Ngakoue may not yet understand the scheme. He didn’t participate in the Jaguars’ offseason camp, so in addition, his conditioning may be an issue. The Packers have to go right at him and see if he is ready to play.
Once the Packers establish the run game, then Aaron Rodgers can attack the Vikings’ secondary. With Minnesota’s defense playing up against the run, the passing attack will be able to make some big plays downfield. The running back rotation is pretty deep, so they’re likely to utilize that depth with plenty of runs.
While the running game might be the focal point of the offense, Aaron Rodgers is still an elite QB. He can still take over games and frustrate opposing defenses. The Vikings and Packers are two very similar teams. Honestly, the Vikings keys to victory mirror Green Bay’s. This matchup should be very fun to watch.
