More To The Packers’ Defense Than Pass Rush

The Packers’ pass rush is usually what people focus on when talking about their defense. However, Green Bay has talent on every level of their unit.

At linebacker, Christian Kirksey was severely underrated while in Cleveland. Kirksey is effective in coverage situations but still has the ability to stuff the run. He has even flashed the ability to rush the quarterback at times. Kirksey was a tremendous signing by Green Bay, if he can stay healthy, he has Pro-Bowl potential.

Let’s not forget, the Packers’ secondary has tons of talent as well. The trio of Kevin King, Jaire Alexander, and Chandon Sullivan might be one of the best young group of corners in the NFL. Adrian Amos is one of the top strong safeties in the league as he can cover and play the run, serving as a fantastic chess piece for the defense.

The most exciting aspect of the Packers’ secondary is how young they are. Alexander, 23, is already one of the leagues best corners. A breakout player to watch this season is free safety Darnell Savage. Savage was very good during his rookie season but if he can crank it up a notch in 2020, watch out.
