Packers Are One Of Best At Getting To The QB
Green Bay is dominant on every defensive level. The Packers have two elite edge rushers in Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith. Both players had over 12 sacks last season.
While those two are very impressive off the edge, the dominance of nose tackle Kenny Smith is jaw-dropping. Typically nose tackles are meant to take on double teams and allow blitzing linebackers to make plays. However, according to Next Gen Stats all three rank in the top 25 of QB pressures.
While this trio is the heart of the Packers’ pass rush, Green Bay has other pieces as well. They took Rashan Gary with the 12th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft and that has helped immensely. They flat out have depth, which is very important to pass rushers with the ability to change around their defensive front. They may even bring in Everson Griffen, too.
With another year under the Mike Pettine system, it is likely the Packers’ pass rush gets even better. Gary has gone through another offseason to develop and Clark is playing for a new contract. With all things considered, the Green Bay could have the league’s best pass rush in the NFL by the end of the season.
