1. Jamaal Williams
This one may be a head-scratcher and is the least likely of the bunch but nothing is impossible. Let’s remember that Green Bay drafted A.J. Dillon in the second round of the draft and he will serve as the backup to Aaron Jones.
Williams carried the ball 107 times for 460 yards and a touchdown in 2019. He played in 14 games, making two starts. Williams is entering the final year of his contract. This is another instance where the Packers could cut him and save $2.2 million or use him as a trade piece.
There are plenty of teams that could look to add running back depth. This is something that the Packers have with the draft selection of Dillon.
Jones is also in the final year of his contract. Green Bay could choose to extend his contract or use Dillon as the running back of the future. Either way, this seems to leave Williams out of the plans. This is why it would behoove the team to make a decision on him, whether it be to release him or put him in a trade.
