Jordan Love has put the Green Bay Packers’ “rebuild” on a completely different timeline. With an amazing first year as the team’s starter, the sky is the limit moving forward. That being said, the Packers want to compete sooner rather than later.

Looking at this year’s team, there was very little chance given to make the playoffs at the beginning of the year. Despite the doubts, they were able to come together and make it happen.

Now, Brian Gutekunst and the front office are already eyeing the upcoming offseason as a chance to get even better. Could the Packers make a run in the playoffs this season? Absolutely, but Green Bay wants to work their way back to being a legitimate long-term contender as well.

With that in mind, the Packers may be eyeing a massive splash in NFL free agency this coming offseason.

Packers Primed To Pursue Huge Splash In NFL Free Agency

According to one former NFL executive, the Packers are going to be one of the more aggressive teams to watch in free agency this offseason.

“I think Green Bay is a fun one to keep an eye on. With Jordan Love, they have their guy, and they’re going to do everything in their power to put the pieces around him. They’re very happy with their wide receivers, but I actually think they’re strongly considering swinging big on a guy like Tee Higgins.”

Can you imagine adding Higgins into the room with the current group of wide receivers? The Packers already have Christian Watson (who hasn’t played much this season due to injury), Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Bo Melton on the roster. Adding Higgins would be lethal for opposing defenses to try to defend.

Granted, the Packers do have other areas that they need to improve. Defensively, they still have more work to be done and may be looking for a new defensive coordinator as well.

All of that being said, they’re going to take care of their new franchise quarterback. If that means spending some money to give him a legitimate No. 1 along with the rest of talented wideouts that Green Bay already has, then that’s exactly what they’ll do.
