The Green Bay Packers entered their Week 14 game against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They had won three games in a row, putting themselves right back in the thick of the playoff picture in the NFC.

However, they were unable to keep the positive momentum going against the Giants. Green Bay would lose the game 24-22 as their defense allowed Tommy DeVito and the New York offense to drive right down the field in the final 1:33 of the game for a game-winning field goal.

The game wasn’t the only loss that the Packers suffered on the evening. Wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks was forced from the game because of an ankle injury. He provided an update after the game and it was not an encouraging one.

Per Lauren Helmbrecht of WFRV Sports, Wicks used some colorful language when describing the status of his ankle post-game. Wicks said his ankle is, “f***ed up” and that the Packers believe he suffered a dreaded high ankle sprain.

That would be a brutal turn of events for Wicks and the Packers. He was in the lineup because Christian Watson suffered another hamstring injury in Week 13, as their depth is going to be tested if both players are sidelined.

Should Wicks and Watson miss more time, Malik Heath looks like the candidate who will step into the lineup. Heath caught the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give the Packers a 22-21 lead, but they were unable to convert on the two-point conversion attempt.

Rookie wide receiver Jayden Reed was a major part of the team’s game plan as well. The Packers used him as a weapon in the running game on jet sweeps and end-around rushes all night and he received the most targets in the passing game.

The wide receiver situation will certainly be something to keep an eye on as the Packers are going to still be making a push for the postseason. But, it was clear that the timing of their offense and downfield passing attack was greatly hampered by the losses of Watson and Wicks.
