Philadelphia Eagles Giving Interesting Playmaker Another Shot

Philadelphia Eagles, NFL Draft
NFL Analysis Network

The NFL Draft often delivers memorable moments, showcasing players who exceed expectations and others who face challenges. Among the standout winners of this year’s draft are the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reflecting on past drafts, we’ve witnessed some surprising selections, including instances where players were chosen ahead of notable talents like Patrick Mahomes—a weighty comparison indeed.

Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross embodies this narrative, still striving to establish himself in the league.

According to a report from Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Ross, the former No. 9 pick, is pursuing an NFL comeback, eyeing a chance with the Eagles. He’s set to participate in the team’s rookie minicamp on a trial basis.

Ross made waves in 2017 by setting a record for the fastest 40-yard dash in NFL Scouting Combine history, clocking in at 4.22 seconds—a record only recently surpassed by Xavier Worthy of the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason.

At 28 years old, Ross likely retains some athleticism, though his extended absence from the game may have impacted his performance.

During his tenure with the Bengals and New York Giants, Ross amassed 62 receptions, 957 yards, and 11 touchdowns over five seasons.

While the Philadelphia Eagles boast a formidable wide receiver corps, the physical demands of the NFL underscore the importance of depth. While Ross may face stiff competition from younger talents, he could seize a final opportunity to prove his mettle in the league.
