The Philadelphia Eagles will battle the Dallas Cowboys in a pivotal NFC East divisional clash this weekend, and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is prepared for Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons.
“He’s a really good player,” Hurts said of Parsons, via Kelsey Kramer of A to Z Sports. “You see throughout the league that you have a lot of those types of players on these different teams, but these guys have a different type of edge rusher, with him being a big-time player. There are a lot of other guys who are big-time players on that team, and you have to account for all of them.”
In the first meeting between Philadelphia and Dallas last month (which was a 28-23 win for the Birds), Parsons logged nine tackles and 1.5 sacks, so it seems fairly safe to say Philly needs to account for him more than anyone else on the Cowboys’ defense.
On the season overall, Parsons has totaled 42 tackles, 11.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Parsons himself is excited to face Hurts and the Eagles again.
‘It’s about just winning and going out there and dominating,” Parsons said. “You want to go out there and make a point at some point throughout the season, and just no matter who’s in front of you, just beat the hell out of them.”
Parsons, who played his collegiate football at Penn State, was selected by Dallas with the 12th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He immediately made his mark during his rookie campaign, registering 84 tackles, 13 sacks and three forced fumbles en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selections.
The 24-year-old was dominant once again last season, racking up 65 tackles, 13.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown. He made the Pro Bowl and notched another First-Team All-Pro selection for his efforts.
The Cowboys are 9-3 and are just one game behind the Eagles for first place in the NFC East.
