Predicting the 2020 NFL Season for Bills WR Stefon Diggs
There are still some questions surrounding Stefon Diggs’ ability to handle a No. 1 receiver role on a contender. He will be able to dispel those concerns given the role he is expected to play will atop the receiving hierarchy in the Buffalo Bills’ passing attack.
Even if Josh Allen manages to make considerable improvement in his passing execution, he will not be close to the level of Kirk Cousins in terms of efficiency. However, the Bills being a run-heavy offense shouldn’t impact Diggs’ volume of targets as a top receiving option.
It would be reasonable to expect Diggs to record 64 receptions, 1,005 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns during his first season with the Bills. No longer playing with the ultra-efficient Cousins in a Kevin Stefanski offense likely will translate to a slight decline in yardage.
The ESPN projection for Diggs in 2020 is less than flattering, to say the least. They expect him to record 63 receptions, 937 yards, and five touchdowns. A stat line of that kind places him at No. 35 overall among wide receivers in their league-wide projections.
The circumstances will be present for Stefon Diggs to solidify himself as a No. 1 receiver and expect him to do it. He will play a pivotal role in the Buffalo Bills competing in the AFC East, even if his individual stats don’t end up being among the best in the NFL.
