4. New York Giants
The New York Giants are hoping that a quieter offseason is the recipe for a strong season. They are now a year removed from moving on from long-time quarterback, Eli Manning, and replacing him with Daniel Jones. Jones will enter his second year in the league after surprising many and having a solid rookie campaign.
The biggest movement for the Giants this offseason was the hiring of new head coach Joe Judge. Judge is coming from the New England Patriots and the hope is that he can replicate some of Bill Belichick’s magic for New York. The first-time head coach will likely be given a few years to try and turn this team around, so expectations are low in year one.
The Giants did not do much outside of the draft, where they spent their first-round pick on Andrew Thomas out of Georgia. Thomas will be expected to immediately contribute by locking down the left tackle spot and protecting Daniel Jones’ blind side. Xavier McKinney was taken in the second round with the goal of him being able to start at safety for a defense that needs a lot of help.
The Giants were not good last year, and they did not make enough changes during this offseason to see a huge change in their production. Establishing a new head coach with a young quarterback will be the top priority, with winning football coming down the line, and competing in the NFC East.
