3. Washington Football Team
The Washington Football Team ended 2019 with the second-worst record in the NFL beating out only the Cincinnati Bengals. That allowed Washington to select second in the draft and take Chase Young out of Ohio State. Young will join an already talented defensive line but has the ability to cause havoc anytime he is on the field. Many had him as the best player in the entire draft and he should be able to contribute immediately and often for the Washington defense.
On the offensive side of the ball, Washington will be relying on second year quarterback Dwayne Haskins to make major improvements. In a disappointing rookie season, Haskins threw for only 7 touchdowns while also tossing 7 interceptions.
A major source for hope that Haskins can improve is new head coach Ron Rivera. Rivera has been given a lot of credit for developing Cam Newton and hopes are he can similarly develop Haskins.
Washington was only one game worse than the Giants last year, but there is more upside with this team. Washington was able to add the best player in the draft and bring in a coach whose biggest responsibility is to improve the quarterback. In the end this team made more adjustments than their fellow bottom dwellers and should leap frog above the Giants this year.
