2. Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings had a successful year in 2019, making the playoffs as a wild card team and then upsetting the New Orleans Saints as the highlight of their season. They then decided to blow up their defense and let a lot of key players walk in the offseason.
Kirk Cousins will help keep this team afloat on a unit that should show positive signs, but so much change on a successful team will cause a slight regression and prevent them from taking over the top spot of the NFC North.
A big storyline that will plague the team this year is the contract situation with Dalvin Cook. Considered one of the top running backs in the league the inability for the two sides to reach an agreement could cause a lot of disruption in the locker room. If Cook is not up to his normal standards, this offense will slow down substantially as a result.
The Vikings were good last year but did not make many changes to add to the team this year. A new defensive secondary will have to learn the system quickly if they want to compete with Green Bay and beyond in the playoffs. This should be a tight race for the leaderboard in the North, so don’t count the Vikings out of postseason success just because they finish second in the division.
