4. Atlanta Falcons
It seems like a lifetime ago that the Atlanta Falcons made it to the Super Bowl. Even though they made the playoffs the year after, two losing seasons in a row have put a lot of pressure on Dan Quinn and the rest of the staff to put together a winning team.
Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are some of the most fun players to watch each Sunday and the addition of Todd Gurley was a high-ceiling, low-floor type of move. With some good positives, there are just too many holes for the Falcons to compete in this division.
The offensive line that gave up over 3 sacks per game last was largely ignored outside the signing of Justin McCray. For a unit that was so bad at helping their offense, this needed more attention.
A defense that was in the bottom 10 of points allowed in 2019 added Dante Fowler Jr., which should provide some immediate upgrade. Their draft choices may take a little longer to develop which will put them in some precarious situations this year.
If the Falcons played in most other divisions, they would be looking at competing for the division title and a playoff spot this year. But having to go up against the Buccaneers, Panthers, and Saints twice a season puts them behind the 8-ball.
