3. Carolina Panthers
Teddy Bridgewater is the forgotten quarterback in the NFC South due to hall of fame careers put up by the other three. But don’t let that fool you into thinking he isn’t capable of winning football games. Last year filling in for Brees, Bridgewater had incredible 99.1 quarterback rating which was the best of his career. He should be an upgrade for Carolina and provide some solid production and stability.
That’s good news for Christian McCaffrey who is hoping to add another dominating season onto his resume. Last year rushing and receiving for over 1,000 was an incredible feat and the addition of Bridgewater might allow McCaffrey to add another 1,000 and 1,000.
The biggest hinderance for this team is the defense. Even though moves were made in the draft getting Derrick Brown (DT) and Yetur Gross-Matos (DE) these rookies have a long battle to making this a respectable unit.
The Panthers ranked second to last in points allowed last year and adding Tom Brady twice a year to the schedule did not give them any breaks. Expect the Panthers to be a competitive and fun team to watch, but when they need to make a stop in a divisional game, they just don’t have the personnel to get it done.
