2. Sean McVay: Offensive Genius at Work
Anyone remember Sean McVay? That coaching mastermind roaming the Los Angeles Rams’ sidelines? The one that has put together offenses that have ranked in the top three in points per game more often than he’s had offenses ranked outside the top ten in scoring? Well, he’s still coaching Jared Goff and the Rams.
2019 wasn’t just a bit of a downturn for Goff. McVay’s offense as a whole struggled by their otherworldly standard last season as well, falling from second in both yards and points per game to seventh and 11th respectively. But if there’s anyone that can fix an offense, it’s McVay.
The year before McVay came into the head coaching job with the Rams’ the group ranked dead last in points per game, before going from worst to first on McVay’s first run as a head coach. He got Todd Gurley playing like an MVP, the offense running smoothly, and learned how to get the most out of Jared Goff.
With a coach as smart and innovative as McVay has proven to be, it’s fair to expect another turnaround from the Rams offense– and Goff in particular.
