Quinton Jefferson
While it’s highly probable that the Falcons draft an edge rusher in this year’s draft, they could find a cost-effective option or two in free agency. Besides the lack of a pass rush in 2019, the need for edge defenders stems from Vic Beasley and Adrian Clayborn set to hit free agency for Atlanta.
With limited financial resources, Quinton Jefferson could be someone that is on Atlanta’s radar in free agency. Jefferson began his career in the NFL after being selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
In his first two seasons with the Seahawks, Jefferson saw a minimal role in the defense. But over the past two seasons, Jefferson has been able to tally 6.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and 25 quarterback hits for Seattle.
Even though he isn’t a premier edge rusher, Jefferson would give the Falcons a player that has still yet to reach his ceiling. Besides giving Atlanta a boost off of the edge, Jefferson is a viable run defender as well.
