Robert Saleh and the New York Jets suffered an embarrassing loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at home on Monday Night Football, and some of the blame has to go on their head coach.

In what was supposed to be a winnable game for the New York Jets at home on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers turned into an embarrassing loss on a national stage.

Coming into the game, the Jets were 4-3 with a very realistic path to not only make the playoffs but compete for the division. However, due to an inept offense, the Jets now find themselves at 4-4 and things look much more difficult.

Once again, the Jets’ defense proved to be one of the best in the league, as they held the Chargers to under 200 yards of total offense. Also, the 27-point score by the Chargers was very misleading, as they had a special team and defensive touchdown in the game.

For the Jets, it feels like the same old story when it comes to Zach Wilson and the offense. Once again, the Jets failed to score a touchdown on offense against one of the worst defenses in the league, and they also shot themselves in the foot with some penalties and turnovers.

While there is a lot of blame to go around for why the Jets are struggling, at the end of the day we have to look at Robert Saleh. Zach Wilson doesn’t get it as a starting quarterback in the NFL. However, Saleh has continued to defend him, which has frustrated fans of the Jets, and likely has to be bothering some of his players, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Saleh has been coaching the Jets for three seasons now, and with a 15-27 record, which equates to a .357 winning percentage, he simply isn’t getting the job done either. If Saleh is going to continue to use Wilson and not consider making a change, it could cost him his job.

With the Jets being 4-4, they are still very much able to compete for a playoff spot and bounce back from this loss to the Chargers. However, the message from Saleh to the fanbase and people who are frustrated by the offense hasn’t been a good one.

This week for the Jets will be a massive one to see how they bounce back from this loss. While it doesn’t appear that Saleh will make a change at quarterback, he must have a better message or he could lose the team very quickly.
