Seahawks Urged To Trade For Bears’ QB Justin Fields

The Seattle Seahawks don’t seem all that committed to Geno Smith at quarterback, so perhaps they should check in with the Chicago Bears concerning Justin Fields?

The general consensus is that the Bears will be trading Fields this offseason, as they own the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft and are expected to take USC’s Caleb Williams.

The problem for Chicago is that the market for Fields is drying up.

Two of the top teams that were rumored to be interested in Fields—the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons—have both signed quarterbacks, with the Steelers bagging Russell Wilson and the Falcons inking Kirk Cousins to a massive contract.

The Las Vegas Raiders were also rumored as a potential destination, but we can probably rule them out now that they have signed Gardner Minshew to compete with Aidan O’Connell.

ESPN’s Louis Riddick thinks the Seahawks make plenty of sense, saying that they have one quarterback on the roster and that they should bring in Fields to allow him to battle with Smith.

Fields is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he made 13 starts and threw for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 61.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 86.3. He also rushed for 657 yards and four scores.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State, was selected by the Bears with the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Fields’ career has been largely marked by inconsistency, as evidenced by his 10-28 record as a starter and his flashes of brilliance sandwiched between head-scratching moments.

But there is no doubting that Justin Fields has talent, and perhaps a better system could get more out of him. Could Seattle represent that place for him?
