2. Mariota will be the top QB in the AFC South
This one could be a battle — and it should be — but don’t get too held up on the rest of the competition in the AFC South with Andrew Luck (Indianapolis Colts), Blake Bortles (Jacksonville Jaguars), and Deshaun Watson (Houston Texans), because those three are each productive in their own way.
When focusing on Marcus Mariota, we see a Tennessee Titans quarterback that has yet to reach his full potential.
Mariota is the leader of the Titans offense, and the players around him will make him a more improved player as their careers progress as well. Besides Corey Davis, the Titans have Rishard Matthews and Taywan Taylor at wide receiver, plus Mariota has one of the top left tackles in all of the NFL on his side as Taylor Lewan protects his blindside.
Having Delanie Walker at tight end, and with the likes of Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis at running back, that will be special to watch as well for Tennessee. This is the first season Lewis is with Mariota and the Titans after spending the past three seasons with the New England Patriots and the previous two seasons before that with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Lewis — who had a career-high 896 rushing yards, added with 214 yards receiving last season — in the same offense with Mariota will make things a lot more interesting and possibly a little quicker as Lewis, when he’s on his game, is very capable of helping Mariota improve his game, too.
