San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers ended the 2019 season coming up short of winning the Super Bowl. A key factor in their loss was an inability to crank up the execution on offense to keep pace with the dynamic passing attack of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The top of the 49ers’ depth chart at the wide receiver position features Deebo Samuel and with the departure of Emmanuel Sanders, next up is rookie Brandon Aiyuk. It’s still no guarantee Aiyuk thrives as a rookie and with Jalen Hurd, Kendrick Bourne, and Dante Pettis next in the order, there is more that could be had.
Samuel is dealing with a Jones fracture in his foot and while he will be healthy at some point early in the season at the latest, it’s no guarantee he avoids re-injury. At least adding another wide receiver like Terrelle Pryor into the mix in case that was to occur makes sense.
