Tennessee Titans, NFL
NFL Analysis Network

The Tennessee Titans suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. They lost 31-28 on overtime, which was their first home loss of the season. Their record now stands at 4-8 on the season as that loss could have been the final nail in the coffin of their playoff hopes.

Unfortunately, the game wasn’t all that the Titans lost. Star running back Derrick Henry departed from the game in the fourth quarter and did not return. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Henry has been placed on concussion protocol, putting his status for next Monday’ game against the Miami Dolphins in question.

Henry was having a great game against the Colts before suffering the head injury. He gained 102 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns before exiting. Should he not be able to suit up in Week 14, the Titans will be turning their backfield over to rookie Tyjae Spears.

NFL News & Rumors: Derrick Henry, Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans Updates

Spears has been great when his number has been called this season. There have been a few instances he actually out-snapped Henry throughout the season as Tennessee has been prodiving him with a modest workload.

Against the Colts on Sunday, Spears had the most productive game of his young career on the ground. He gained 75 yards on 16 carries, providing the team with a spark whenever Henry was on the sidelines. An adept pass catcher, Spears would see a massive amount of usage against the Dolphins should Henry not play.

Despite what has been a down season for the Titans, Henry has remained quite productive. He is second in the NFL with 841 rushing yards, behind only Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers, who has 1,032. Henry has also added eight rushing touchdowns, which is seventh in the NFL and fifth among running backs.
