3. Ryan Kerrigan

Kerrigan was a first round pick of the Redskins in 2011 out of Purdue. He has been elite and underrated since he entered the league. Kerrigan has been apart of the franchise for nine years. During his first eight year in the league, Kerrigan played in and started all 16 games.

It is unlikely that Kerrigan is traded before the season, but it is always a possibility. There are plenty of teams that would be interested in a veteran outside linebacker with plenty left in the tank.

Kerrigan totaled 13 sacks in both 2017 and 2018. He finished with 5.5 in 12 games last season. Del Rio could use Kerrigan off the bench in 2020 if they do not decide to use him in a trade.

Washington loaded up on defensive line talent. Young and Sweat could be a strong duo on the outside for a long time. Kerrigan adds depth and leadership. He would serve as a mentor to the younger players. There are plenty of benefits to keeping him, but his name has been brought up in rumors before. This is one that seems unlikely, but it is just a thought.
