1. Peyton Barber
Even with Derrius Guice off the team, Washington’s running back room is full. Barber signed a two-year deal worth up to $3 million during free agency. He saw action for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019 but it is unknown if he will see any in Washington in 2020.
Peterson leads the running back group for 2020. He has reinvented his career in Washington with two above average seasons. Behind Peterson will be rookie Gibson, who is expected to be used in many ways. The offensive coaching staff views Gibson as a do it all type player.
Bryce Love has also impressed in camp while J.D. McKissic can be used as a receiver if need be. Washington will not carry five running backs so a decision will have to be made on Barber.
There is no chance that Barber beats out Peterson or Gibson. As a third running back, Barber will not be on the field much which means Washington could look to add him in a trade. They would be able to flip him for a draft pick if they feel the need.
