Allen Lazard
During a Monday night showdown with the Detroit Lions in Week 6 last season, the Packers were in desperate need of a spark on offense. Early in the fourth quarter, Green Bay faced a nine-point deficit following a 54-yard field goal by Matt Prater. With no Adams on the field, Rodgers lobbied for Lazard to get some playing time.
The undrafted second-year wide receiver would tally four receptions for 65 yards and would catch the final touchdown of the contest to help the Packers secure a 23-22 victory over their NFC North foes. Despite his efforts in Week 6, Lazard would finish with only 35 receptions, 477 yards, and three touchdowns in 2019. Though, unlike Valdes-Scantling, his underwhelming numbers were partly due to an inconsistent role in the offense.
Even with his usage being sporadic, according to Pro Football Focus, Lazard boasted the fourth-best receiving grade among wide receivers in single coverage in 2019. Only Mecole Hardman, Tyreek Hill, and Chris Godwin saw better receiving grades against single coverage.
Of the options that the Packers currently have, Lazard seems like the best bet to be the No. 2 wide receiver in the team’s aerial attack.
