Why Fans Should Be Excited About Tyrell Williams In 2020

Quite simply, the second year of Williams’ career with the Raiders should be even more productive. Last season, he was thrown into the fire as the No. 1 wideout and there weren’t any other very dangerous receivers on the roster.

As most NFL fans will remember, Williams was expected to end up being the team’s No. 2 wideout behind Antonio Brown. But, Brown ended up forcing his way out of town due to off-the-field drama.

Williams ended up being the go-to wide receiver. He performed admirably given the circumstances.

Heading into the 2020 season, Williams will have a lot more help. Las Vegas spent on of their first-round picks on Alabama star receiver Henry Ruggs III. They will likely form a top wide receiver tandem for Derek Carr.

With defenses being forced to focus on making sure that they don’t get burned by Ruggs, Williams will have a much easier job. He will no longer be the main focus of defensive backs.

Las Vegas also has a legitimate ground game with second-year running back Josh Jacobs showing star potential. That will allow Carr and the Raiders to run a much more balanced offense, which always leads to a more reliable passing attack.

What should fans be expecting from Williams? It would be reasonable to look for around 60 receptions for 750 yards and another seven or eight touchdowns. Those numbers will look much better with another very productive wide receiver on the roster.

The Raiders don’t have a superstar in Tyrell Williams, but they do have a quality weapon. He will have a very solid season and will provide the offense with playmaking and consistency.
