Why the Packers’ interest in Jalen Hurts makes perfect sense

1. Jalen Hurts Wouldn’t Cost A First-Round Pick

Finally, the Packers are only a piece or two away from earning a trip to the Super Bowl. They made it to the NFC Championship Game last season with a 13-3 regular season record. Spending a first-round pick on a quarterback just doesn’t make sense.

While Hurts would likely be a second-round pick for the Packers, they would not have to spend the No. 30 overall pick on him. Green Bay would instead be able to focus on a wide receiver or linebacker in the first round and then take a stab at their quarterback of the future in Hurts.

Gutekunst looked at Drew Lock last year in the NFL Draft. He didn’t end up taking him, but it is obvious that he has his eyes set on taking a quarterback in the near future.

If Hurts is there in the second round with the No. 62 overall pick, don’t be surprised to see the Packers scoop him up.
