Will Drew Lock or Daniel Jones have the better 2020 season?

The nod here has to go to Drew Lock. One of the reasons for that is, the Denver Broncos are set up to win and Lock has shown the ability to lead better than Daniel Jones. That’s not saying Jones doesn’t have that quality but look at what Lock did since taking over at the end of the year.

In the five games that he started, Lock faced the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, and the Kansas City Chiefs. While two of those teams would go on to the playoffs, Lock was forced into battle against four veteran QB’s who could air it out.

His only loss was against the eventual Super Bowl Champs, Chiefs. During that stretch, Lock looked poised and never wavered from his or the team’s approach.

Daniel Jones, on the other hand, had tons of trouble. While his passing yards were modest, it was the costly rookie mistakes that set him back. Jones was sacked 38 times on the year and fumbled the ball an astonishing 18 times. Those are the mistakes no QB should make.

Another thing to factor in regarding the two QB’s is their teams’ approach this offseason. The New York Giants went mostly defense in the draft and while they signed a few receivers in the offseason, no one was brought in to actually help Jones.

On the other hand, the Broncos have done almost everything they could to make sure Lock has a successful year. The Broncos have young talent at wide receiver with Courtland Sutton and now the addition of Jerry Jeudy in the 2020 NFL Draft which gives him great options in the passing attack.

Then you counter in the ground game with Phillip Lindsay and now Melvin Gordon, and Lock is surrounded with more talent than Jones. He will have the better season (barring injury) because not only is he the better QB but because his team has provided him with what he needs to be successful.
