The Philadelphia Eagles are a talented team but it’s far from a guarantee they make it to the playoffs in 2020. There was a mix of positive additions to the team using free agency and the NFL Draft, but there were some departures and injuries to take into account.

The Eagles wide receivers are talented, however injuries always seem to rear their ugly head when it comes to this group. Losing Desean Jackson for the majority of last season was a big blow and it didn’t help that Alshon Jeffery had yet another season where he missed games.

Adding in Jalen Reagor will provide greater big play potential to the Eagles’ offense. However, the only steady target is Zach Ertz when taking all factors into consideration. The ceiling for the group is intriguing, nevertheless.

Let’s not forget, the offensive line experienced some change with Brandon Brooks injured and Jason Peters no longer on the roster as well. There is a possibility this group declines in its production and that could be a major issue if the other parts of the offense struggle with injuries again, too.

On the defensive side, the Eagles have a lot of stars. Fletcher Cox is one of the NFL’s best interior defensive lineman. Darius Slay is a fantastic corner, and he is more motivated than ever to prove himself. However, there are holes on defense. The linebackers are mostly unproven and for the Eagles defense to be successful, that group must prove to be reliable.

Heading into this season, there are a lot of potential variables the Eagles face. Sprinkling in the impact of a strange offseason due to Covid-19, it’s been an off-period like no other. While the time off could prove valuable for some players to rest and recover, others transitioning to new teams may struggle.

With taking all of that into consideration, here are three boom-or-bust candidates for the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2020 season
