Clyde Edwards-Helaire, LSU
Due to the abundance of NFL talent on LSU’s offense last season, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire tends to get overshadowed a bit. He finished his 2019 campaign with 1,414 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns, along with 55 receptions and an additional touchdown through the air.
Edwards-Haire’s running style would fit well in LA. He has the ability to play in gap or heavy zone run schemes, both of which the Rams employ. He has proven to make a strong impact in RPO situations playing in a pro style offense as well.
The pass catching ability Edwards-Haire has displayed out of the backfield should also be appealing to LA, as they ask their backs to run routes out of the backfield every game. Having that type of versatility with multiple backs would go a long way for the Rams replacing Todd Gurley’s previous impact.
Edwards-Helaire also doesn’t have much of an injury history and that’s important considering how that prompted the end of the Gurley era. That should put Rams fans at ease if the LSU back is drafted there.
