The Chicago Bears are entering the 2020 NFL season with a need for more offensive production. Mitchell Trubisky struggled mightily in 2019 and there are some who believe he could be out after the season. In addition to the passing game issues, the Bears could use some help at running back, which is where current Green Bay Packers star Aaron Jones could come into play.
For those who don’t know, Jones is scheduled to hit the free agency market next offseason. He has had discussions about an extension with the Packers, but nothing has gotten done between the two parties.
Assuming that Jones doesn’t sign an extension with the Packers, the Bears should already be eyeing him. When the 2021 NFL free agency period opens up, they should be willing to offer him a very aggressive contract.
During the 2019 NFL season, Jones put together a massive stat line. He carried the football 236 times for 1,084 yards and 16 touchdowns. In addition to his rushing numbers, Jones caught 49 passes for 474 yards and three scores.
All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at three reasons why the Bears should already be prioritizing a run at Aaron Jones next offseason in free agency.
