2021 NFL Free Agency: 4 early targets the Lions should be monitoring

The Detroit Lions have gone through many changes throughout their history. While the days of Matthew Stafford slinging the ball 50 times a game is over, he is still a QB that can lead them to a championship one day. However, that will take some time.

A good way for the Lions to compete short-term is to hit free agency hard. Detroit has a lot of cap space, they should be able to get some very valuable players in free agency.

While the running backs are in place, the Lions still need some work on their offensive line to take the running game to the next level. Adding a veteran offensive lineman could be exactly what this Lions offense needs. Giving a quarterback like Stafford a legit running game would make Detroit very difficult to stop.

The Detroit Lions used their first pick in the latest draft to select Jeff Okudah out of Ohio St. While Okudah has a lot of potential, it would be smart if Detroit brought in another veteran corner. This veteran can help show Okudah the ropes. It would also help boost this defensive unit. There are a lot of great veteran options at corner. Detroit has enough cap space to sign any of these star veterans.

The Lions are only a few players away from making a playoff run. While they may not be a contender yet, the goal should be for them to grow into a contender while Matthew Stafford is still able to lead the team. Detroit has some very good pieces. They are building a good roster with a lot of depth. However, they should start making some moves to land valuable veteran assets.

With that being said, let’s take a look at four early targets the Lions should be monitoring.
