Jadeveon Clowney
The Detroit Lions are a very versatile defense. They run a hybrid defense that transitions between a 3-4 and a 4-3. Jadeveon Clowney would be the perfect edge rusher for this defense. While they are in a 4-3 they can kick Dashawn Hand inside to defensive tackle.
Clowney will set the edge and provide an excellent pass rusher that would compliment Trey Flowers very well. He would help aid the Lions secondary by adding pressure to opposing quarterbacks.
Clowney is a fierce competitor and brings a lot to a defense. He was easily the Seahawks’ best pass rusher last season. He doesn’t always get sacks, but sometimes getting pressure has more of an effect. This has been Clowney’s bread and butter for his entire career. He uses incredible size, strength, and athleticism to dominate opposing tackles.
While his ability to get to the QB is impressive, it is far from the only thing Clowney can do. Many pass-rushers focus only on getting to the QB. However, he is dominant at stopping the run as well. In 2017 Clowney led the NFL in run tackles for loss. He can truly make a difference in whatever team he is on. The Lions’ defense would be one of the better defensive units if they can snag Clowney.
