The Panthers used their first-round pick on Auburn’s Derrick Brown in the 2020 NFL Draft. But if Kawann Short can’t be an effective partner in Carolina’s 4-3 offense, they’ll need someone else on the interior offensive line.

Clark will be a highly-touted target in free agency. A Pro Bowler last season, Clark had 6.0 sacks for the Green Bay Packers and 93 total tackles. He’s a dangerous option along the trenches and the combination of Clark and Brown could give opposing QBs absolute nightmare fuel.

The Panthers already had the second-highest sack total in 2019, with 53. But you look at who they lost and it’s a long list – Gerald McCoy, Bruce Irvin, Mario Addison and Vernon Butler. the only remaining Panther that was top-five in sacks on the team is Brian Burns.

Clark would be an expensive investment. The Panthers’ defensive line corps is fairly thin and certainly would be worth the investment. Ultimately, the Panthers’ front office will have to determine if it’s worth it and rejuvenating a dangerous defense from 2019.
