De’Vondre Campbell

Although Washington has a very good defensive line and a solid secondary, they have some issues at linebacker. While Reuben Foster has potential, there are some injury concerns. Thomas Davis is likely entering his last season in the NFL. Next offseason, this could be an area much in need of being addressed.

Bringing in De’Vondre Campbell would make a lot of sense for Washington. He has the flexibility to play middle linebacker in the 3-4 scheme as well as outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme. Washington has a very flexible defensive line with edge rushers who could provide quality reps in both schemes.

With so much talent up front Campbell can do what he does best, drop back in coverage, and play the passing lanes. That’s an intriguing attribute to have in Washington’s defense considering their pass rush will be effective and only get stronger with development for players like Chase Young.

Currently, Campbell is in Arizona, where he doesn’t fit the really fit the rotation. He is listed as the third linebacker behind Jordan Hicks and Isaiah Simmons. It seems highly unlikely that Campbell re-signs with the next season, he should move on and start for another team.
