3 edge rushers the Jets should still target in free agency

Markus Golden

Last offseason, the New York Giants took a flier on Markus Golden and it worked to perfection. The former second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals was able to record 10 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and 27 quarterback hits with the Giants in 2019.

After seeing what Golden could do for their intercity rivals, the Jets could choose to take a chance on him this offseason. Before free agency began, it seemed as if Golden was seeking to get a long-term deal done with any team that was willing to sign him.

Nevertheless, Golden remains in free agency and he could likely be had for cheaper than some of the other choices on the market. Similar to Mayowa, the Jets could sign Golden short-term and hope that he proves he is worthy of being re-signed next offseason.

Again, New York was only able to combine for 35 sacks as a defense in 2019. If they were to sign Golden, they’d be signing someone who had nearly a third of their sack total by himself this past season.
